Our aim is to create, with the help from anyone who wishes to join us in a truly exciting waterside community development that is enjoyable for each and everyone of us; a great place to be to celebrate what Woodbridge means to us all!

There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to join in. We would love to talk to anyone who has something to offer and who can see that our project might interest them. Please get in touch if you would like to be involved (see the contact page for details).

Volunteering opportunities

Skiff-building

In 2019 the Trust purchased two kits for the building of St Ayles Skiffs one of which is complete and has been launched. The second boat is in production so if you are interested in joining the skiff-build team let us know. Each build project is led by skilled volunteers so you don’t need to have previous experience of boat-building or woodworking to join the team.

Events, activities and exhibitions

There are all sorts of opportunities in which to get involved – ranging from background research, design, publicity, talking to visitors, or helping with planning and administration. We are constantly planning new events and exhibitions in the John Gibbins Gallery. at which volunteers are needed to help. Just let us know what sort of thing you would be interested in doing.

Sae Wylfing

Our half-length replica of the Sutton Hoo Ship

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED NOW! Sae Wylfing is on long-term loan to the Trust, and ready (on a trailer) to roll. She has generated a lot of excitement at local events over the past four years and we have bookings now throughout 2020. You can have a great day out as a volunteer, and we particularly need:

  • help with the ‘stand’ – includes selling a range of related merchandise for fundraising
  • people used to man-handling trailer loads, as Sae Wylfing is trailed to each venue
  • people with a general knowledge of the Anglo-Saxon era, to answer the many and varied questions that visitors of all ages ask about the ship, the background, and way of life
  • supervising simple craft activities

Publicity

There is so much going on but people still tell us that they didn’t know anything about us and sometimes even where we are sited. If you are interested in taking photos, writing pieces for the website or press please help us get the word out.

Please fill out the contact form telling us a little bit about yourself, and the ways you might like to help.
