On the second of April 2018 our Chairman and the Town Mayor signed the lease giving WRT access to the Longshed for the first time.
During the year we held several functions the first being on the 21st April “Open day” when the Mayor cut the ribbon to allow visitors in. We expected between 60 and 70 but were surprised when over 200 came along. The whole of the this year and much of 2019 was spent in obtaining over £100k in donations both commercial and private and from the “Friends of the Longshed”. These funds were used to fit out the building with electric services, new offices and stores, disabled toilet and passenger lift and new stairs to the John Gibbins Gallery.
